HOTELS

Sarteano has several hotels to choose from that are walking distance from the workshop.

The Residenza Santa Chiara is a lovely former convent with an elegant old world feel where you may choose to B&B or half-board. The Residenza also has a fabulous restaurant that recently opened its own Jazz Club Friday evenings. You can listen to live jazz and enjoy dinner outside in the garden. It is the closest hotel to the workshop.

La Gustea, a newly renovated boutique hotel is owned and managed by a couple that was trained by one of the larger hotel chains. Their experience and love for what they do is apparent from the moment you are greeted. They also have one apartment for our participants, very close to the hotel and you will have the opportunity to either B&B or half-board at La Gustea, with incredible meals that are handmade by Felice, one of the owners. The hotel is around a 12 minute walk from the Workshop. Call or email Nadia for information and prices at info@lagustea.com

And private apartments:

Casa Sarteano, a beautiful apartment on the top floor of the historical Palazzo Gabrielli, sleeps 6 and is located a few steps from the town’s main square. This spacious home has a private balcony with a lovely view…

Palazzo Pio III is a freshly refurbished boutique period residence located in the birthplace of Pope Pius III (1439-1503). The beautiful travertine portal is an invitation to enter a place where history, art and culture meet luxury and relaxation. There are three large and elegant suites equipped with every comfort (air conditioning, large bathrooms, Jacuzzi tubs, etc…), the decor of each room is a perfect balance between ancient and modern.

Driving to the Workshop

Newly renovated Locanda Toscanini in southern Chianti where the great Maestro Arturo Toscanini came to relax and recuperate in the 1930’s. We are located in the tiny town of Piazze, surrounded by verdant hills, luscious vineyards, and ancient olive groves that help make this area a place that will live in your hearts forever. Having been a haven for Maestro Toscanini adds a special, artistic atmosphere.

Because of its many medieval festivals and nightly celebrations, Sarteano is a popular destination in August. The famed Giostra del Saracino (Joust of the Saracen) takes place every year on August 15th.

For those of you who are bringing along the family to sightsee while you’re in class, and you’d like to be further out in the countryside, you can go to www.tuscany-inside-out.com, where there are two lovely homes available to rent.

Options for Families

For those of you who will be traveling with family members (older teens), who are accomplished performance artists in dance and theatre/musical theatre, and you are looking for a phenomenal workshop offering an incredibly diverse selection of sessions, taught by an exciting and collaborative international staff, we would highly recommend the International Theatre and Dance Project. If you are the parent of a Young Adult in the dramatic arts, this 19 day workshop, held on the island of Paros, in Greece, could be an amazing experience for them, while you attend (or before/after) our workshop. https://www.internationaltheatreanddanceproject.com/
